The Haunting
DreamWorks
Cast: Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lili Taylor, Owen Wilson, Bruce Dern
Director: Jan de Bont
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for intense horror sequences)

From director Jan de Bont (Speed, Twister) comes a descent thriller about a group of insomniacs who come to the house as part of a sleep research project. What they don't know is that the researcher is actually conducting an experiment with fear and human emotions.

The bumps in the night did creep up on me as the cast was more and more tormented. Is this part of the experiment, or is the house really haunted? About halfway through the movie, the mega-special effects cut in and the house comes alive with twisting walls and ghosts coming out of the bed sheets.

The movie is a descent thriller with a few good scares and a lot of excellent special effects. The screen dazzles as this gigantic house comes alive and the movie turns into a dark version of twister in a haunted house.

Although the movie isn't all that scary, there's still a good amount of suspense with out all the blood and gore of the common Wes Craven slasher flick.
