The Mummy
Universal Pictures
Cast: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo
Director: Stephen Sommers
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for pervasive adventure violence and some partial nudity)
The Mummy opens with an action packed gun fight, and the edge-of-your-seat action continues all through the movie. Brendon Frasier plays a Indiana Jones wannabe and is constantly whipping out guns and pretty lame jokes. The humor is flat and at first I couldn't picture Frasier as this character. With his past goofy movies such as George of the Jungle and Blast From the Past, I was very skeptical about seeing him as the action hero. But aside from the bad jokes, he played the role rather well.
Although the movie did keep my interest for the 2 hours I was sitting in the theater, I was expecting a horror movie and was given an effects filled movie with lots of gun fighting and action. If you're looking for a good horror movie, stay far away from the Mummy because your not going to find many scares. But, the action and special effects are worth seeing on the big screen.
RATING: B+

A: IT was so good..really exciting and great special effects. There was an interesting plot and at least it was an original idea. The actors and actress were great and Brandon Fraser was great as the leading man!
